Tara Mitts- Postpartum Meal Delivery Service

After giving birth to each of her children, Tara found herself in the all-too-common reality of new motherhood—her husband had to return to work, and she was left alone, exhausted, and struggling to nourish herself. Cooking felt impossible, and without proper meals, she didn’t heal as well as she could have, nor did she have the nourishment she needed to breastfeed successfully. In 2020, she became a certified birth doula because she wanted to support women through pregnancy and birth, ensuring they felt empowered and cared for. But time and time again, Tara found herself walking away after birth, knowing that so many of these new mothers were about to experience the same struggle she had. It didn’t sit right with her. That’s why her husband—a talented chef—and herself created a postpartum meal delivery service. Their menu is designed with healing in mind, featuring nourishing, warming, and nutrient-dense meals that support recovery, balance hormones, and promote milk supply. Every dish is thoughtfully crafted to help new moms focus on rest, bonding, and adjusting to life with their newborn, without the stress of cooking. Tara believes that no mother should have to recover alone, and having access to healing food is a vital part of postpartum care. It’s an honor to provide this service, ensuring moms feel supported long after birth.

Dr.Tarah Davis, PharmD, MBA- Functional Medicine Practitioner

Dr. Tarah Davis is a Functional Medicine Pharmacist and the founder of The Rooted Farmacy, where she helps women, men, and children overcome chronic bloating, constipation, diarrhea, and other gut-related issues for lasting relief. But here’s the thing—gut health isn’t just about digestion. Many conditions like thyroid dysfunction, hormonal imbalances, fertility, autoimmunity, anxiety, weight gain, skin issues, and migraines can all start in the gut, even when you don’t have obvious digestive symptoms. Too often, symptoms like exhaustion, brain fog, irregular/ painful cycles, mood swings, or stubborn weight gain are dismissed. However, these are not just “normal” parts of life, pregnancy, or postpartum—they are signs that the body needs support. Dr. Tarah is passionate about helping to cut through the confusion, uncover the root causes of the symptoms, and find simple, effective solutions that actually work. Her dedication to functional medicine stems from her own personal health struggles. After years of battling gut and hormone imbalances and being told she was “fine” and “the epitome of health” by conventional doctors, she took matters into her own hands. Now, she combines science-backed strategies with a real-life, no-fluff approach to help women feel their best at every stage of life.

In addition to her work with clients, Dr. Tarah is a contributing author for Expanding Your Brilliance: Creating Effortless Abundance While Navigating Business and Motherhood, where she shares her expertise on gut health, business, and holistic healing. She is also a contributing author for A Practitioner's Guide to Mastering Functional Medicine Lab Values - Gut & Digestion Insights: Advanced Testing for Gastrointestinal Health.

Whether you're trying to conceive, navigating postpartum, or simply wanting to feel more like yourself again, Dr. Tarah is here to help you heal, rebalance, and thrive from the inside out.

Julia Platt- Chiropractor/James Island

Growing up, Dr. Julia’s brother faced a critical football injury during high school. His encounter with a local chiropractor enabled him to overcome his physical challenges and inspired him to pursue a career in chiropractic care. Witnessing this profound transformation ignited Dr. Julia’s own interest in the field.

While in college, Dr. Julia struggled with brain fog and headaches following several concussions. It was her brother’s recommendation that led her to seek chiropractic care. The relief she experienced paved the way for a deeper connection to the philosophy of drug-free, surgery-free healing. She especially loves taking care of families, children, and pregnant mamas who are looking to have a healthy and pain-free pregnancy. Having the pelvis in proper alignment allows for a smoother pregnancy, and studies have shown on-going chiropractic care during pregnancy helps with faster delivery times! Dr. Julia encourages moms to continue with adjustment post-partum to further help in the healing process. And, of course, Dr. Julia loves seeing babies! Babies can often have a birth process that is rough on the upper neck, and it's important to make sure their bodies are in an optimal position from day one! Her philosophy is that it's easier to build healthy children than try to mend broken adults.

Education and Accreditations

Dr. Julia completed her undergraduate studies at the University of North Carolina, Charlotte earning her Bachelor of Science Degree in Exercise Science. Shortly thereafter, she enrolled in Sherman College of Chiropractic and earned her Doctor of Chiropractic degree.

Dr. Julia holds both her Knee Chest Advanced Certification and Knee Chest Blue Angel Certification, reflecting her commitment to staying at the forefront of chiropractic techniques.

Taylor Dempsey- Chiropractor/Hanahan

Dr. Taylor was first adjusted when she was 3 years old! She wasn’t always consistent with chiropractic so she didn’t feel the full benefits until she was in chiropractic school. Despite this she knew she wanted to help people reach their best health potential naturally without drugs or surgery.

As a gymnast growing up, she dealt with many injuries as well as headaches and back pain that a teenager should not have been dealing with. Upon starting consistent chiropractic care, she felt relief that she had never encountered before and knew it was the right profession for her.

Dr. Taylor is passionate about serving women and families as their partner in achieving optimal health for generations to come. Her mission is for all pregnant women to experience a healthy, symptom free pregnancy, as well as a smooth, pain free, positive birth experience. Research shows that proper pelvic alignment through consistent chiropractic adjustments leads to quicker delivery and positive birth outcomes. The birth experience can be stressful on both mama and new baby, so it is very important for mama and baby to get adjusted after birth!

Education & Accreditation:

Dr. Taylor earned her Bachelors of Science degree focusing on exercise science from Grand Valley State University in Michigan before heading south for chiropractic school.  She graduated as a Doctor of Chiropractic from Sherman College of Chiropractic in Boiling Springs, South Carolina.

An accident in 2020 left Dr. Taylor unable to walk for several weeks and ultimately led her to the technique that she now practices. Dr. Taylor is Advanced Proficiency Certified in Torque Release Technique as well as Webster Certified for adjusting pregnant mamas. Both of these techniques are research driven to stay up to date and serve her community best.

Natalie Allard- Acupuncture

Natalie grew up on Isle of Palms, SC and had a huge yearning to go out West after high school. She went to college and met her husband in Missoula, MT. It was there that she was introduced to alternative healing modalities- such as Naturopathy, Homeopathy, Herbal healing, Yoga and Meditation- and her interest grew. After traveling around out West and learning from a lot of different natural healers and mentors, they found themselves in Asheville, NC where Natalie decided to continue her alternative healing journey by going to Acupuncture school. After graduating, Natalie worked alongside the medical community in Asheville by having her office inside Biltmore OB/GYN medical practice for 12 years. After having their 2 children and wanting to be closer to  family, they decided to move back to Charleston. One interesting fact is that their family took a year off and traveled around the country in their RV before their kids started  high school! When the pandemic hit, Natalie decided it was time to open her practice in Mt Pleasant to offer a safe space for those wanting alternative therapies for their health issues. Even during the pandemic, Natalie saw a huge growth in her practice and the desire for people wanting natural ways to help heal their bodies. Her practice continues growing and she loves helping her patients and all of their referrals!

Natalie received her BS in Health and Human Performance, with an emphasis in Exercise Science and Nutrition, from the University of Montana; became a certified Traditional Herbalist from the NC School of Natural Healing; and has practiced Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine for over 20 years through her Masters degree from the Atlantic University of Chinese Medicine (a four year acupuncture and herbal medical school). She holds her National Certification title of Dipl. Ac. through the NCCAOM.

Natalie treats all things, but specializes in treating fertility, pregnancy, postpartum, anxiety/stress, and all of the  hormonal changes women encounter
